Recent connection problems with Maynard and Wintaka
caused us to expect our match against the UpperCut
team from New Zealand to be a net nightmare. Our fears turned out to be
ungrounded. Our opponents turned out to be great players and
even greater people. The only "snag" was that the match started
at 5:00 A.M. Pacific time. Some of our players, including me, needed
a crash cart to wake up that early!

Sadly, our table crashed after the other table had finished all the
boards in the second half--just as Wintaka and I were setting 3S for
+200. Kenny Sired had already left and
we now had to replay the last four boards. Unmitigated disaster
ensured. We lost 35 unanswered IMPs in an absolute fiasco to lose
by 25.

records of the decisive hands in this match.
